Carl Crawford might be out for the rest of the season as some speculation is reporting. He apparently did something to the tendon on his middle finger...bad enough to possibly be out the rest of the year?! How do you even do that?! Put your hand in your glove too hard...swing the bat with just your middle finger and thumb?! Someone probably stepped on his finger while he was either stealing a base, diving after a ball or getting back to first on a pick off attempt. Either way, rub some dirt on it and get back out there! You guys are so close.
Longo's injury seems a bit more tragic. Everyone that has played a little ball knows that the power in a swing comes from the wrists, forearms, and hands. I hope that he will make a quick recovery and get back in there. The Rays are going to need his stick to make a run at it....Hell, not to mention both of their gloves.
The Rays aren't in first because of offense, it's because of pitching and defense. Carl and Evan are the main forces of the Rays defensive dominance. I hope the rest of the fellas pick up the slack. Fight hard...stay a few games above .500 and they'll should be able to hang on for the September push.
